Okay, not really history related, but pretty important if you want to understand where I'm coming from as a teacher. Enjoy.

Really Useful Interactive Map
I guess the name pretty much says it all. Still, click the button and explore. It's a great way to start pulling a lot of puzzle pieces together to get a comprehensive understanding of the big picture. It helps to start with a question like, "Why is Germany German?" Or, "What happened to all the Romans in Rome after the empire fell?" Then go from there.
Another Map: WWI
This one is an animated timeline/map of the First World War. Specifically, the formation of the western front. The general BBC History website is also quite good.
Top Ten "Watershed" Moments in History
A watershed moment or event is one that markedly changes the course of history in a significant way. This, of course, is a judgement call. Everything that happens has consequences. It's just that some events have greater consequences than others. Below you'll find a link to one person's opinion of what the top ten watershed moments in human history have been. Do you agree with their list?
Some Perspective
I have found one of the biggest challenges to teaching history is the way in which anything past about our grandparents' age becomes very abstract and mythical. Like none of it is really real. Click the button just below and get ready for a cold, hard dose of perspective!
